Contract: Fixed-term (18 months) with potential for permanent role, subject to funding
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, open to flexible work arrangements (4 or 5 days)
Salary: £33,000 per annum (pro rata for part-time)
Benefits: Contributory pension, 22 days holiday per annum (pro rata for part-time), bank holidays, birthday day off.

Location: Flexible: work from home, co-working in central London, and various ACAVA sites as required
Purpose of the Role
Collaborate with the Interim Head of Professional Development, CEO, and colleagues to develop, deliver, and evaluate ACAVA’s new professional development programs. Responsibilities include curating webinars, peer-to-peer networking, expanding Artist-in-Residence programs, working with young artists, developing membership schemes, and other initiatives. Contribute ideas and ambition to this evolving area of work.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Development (with Interim Head of Professional Development)
- Develop programs supporting our vision and business goals.
- Identify collaboration opportunities for professional development strategy.
- Apply for funding in collaboration with the Head of Fundraising and Interim Head of Professional Development.
- Cultivate relationships with partners and collaborators.
- Advocate for ACAVA in the cultural, education, commercial, and public sectors.
- Embed professional development in the studio holder community.
- Position ACAVA’s programs in the cultural and creative industries.
- Design a yearly professional development program in line with objectives.
- Contribute to future development of initiatives.
Programme Delivery
- Lead event and activity planning, including guest speakers/facilitators, venues, scheduling, and marketing.
- Ensure timely and budget-compliant programming, meeting reporting and evaluation requirements.
- Produce program reports and evaluations.
- Recruit freelancers, contractors, and Artists-in-Residence.
- Provide support for Artists-in-Residence.
- Build and nurture an alumni group.
- Plan the launch of the Associate Membership scheme in 2024.
- Create and share content for newsletters, websites, and social media.
- Establish an online resource library.
- Ensure compliance with ACAVA policies.
General
- Support ACAVA’s commitment to best practices, including equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Person Specification
Required
- Knowledge of contemporary arts and curatorial practices.
- Experience supporting creatives in practice development.
- Project management skills, including communication, administration, and planning.
- Financial management for budget monitoring.
- Event management and production experience.
- Strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, delegate, and prioritize.
- Team-building skills.
- Independent and collaborative work experience.
- Experience managing freelancers and contractors.
Desirable
- Skills development and training for creative practitioners.
