Position Title: Senior Curator
Hours: Mon-Fri, 10 am – 6 pm, with occasional additional hours
Location: Sydney, NSW
Terms Of Employment: Two-year contract (maternity leave cover), starting in January 2024
Base Salary: $80,000 per annum plus superannuation

Position Summary
The Senior Curator collaborates with the Executive team to develop Artspace’s artistic program. Responsibilities include exhibitions, commissions, residencies, public programs, and budget management. The Senior Curator represents Artspace in the art community and strengthens its global network.
Key Accountabilities
Artistic Program
- Contribute to future programming with awareness of contemporary art trends.
- Collaborate on project management, including conceptual development, artist liaison, and exhibition oversight.
- Support major projects, commissioning, and publication.
- Assist with funding applications and partnerships.
- Cultivate relationships with artists and industry professionals.
- Expand national and international networks.
Management and Administration
- Mentor and support team development.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, budgets, and reporting.
- Archive curatorial contributions.
Advocacy
- Build networks in the arts, education, and the wider community.
- Promote access and inclusion.
- Represent Artspace through public engagement and media interviews.
- Foster relationships with stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant qualifications and five years’ curatorial experience.
- Strong knowledge of global contemporary art, publishing, and public presentations.
- Extensive professional network.
- Exceptional written and oral communication.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Special Requirements
- Full-time position with occasional after-hours work.
- Representation at high-level meetings.
- Additional duties as directed by the Executive.
