Introduction
Affordable Art Fair Brussels invites curators to collaborate on an emerging artists exhibition. This opportunity is part of our upcoming 15th edition, scheduled for 7 – 11 February 2024 at Tour & Taxis. The exhibition will focus on the theme ‘evolving identities’.
Exhibition Concept
The curated exhibition should feature 3 – 5 emerging Brussels-based artists. These artists should have graduated from art school within the last 5 years and must not be represented by a gallery.
Compensation
The selected curator will receive a production budget for the project. Additionally, a payment of €1500 is offered for their services.
About Affordable Art Fair
The Affordable Art Fair hosts events in 14 cities globally, including London, New York, and Sydney. The Brussels edition annually welcomes over 85 Belgian and international galleries. It offers artworks priced under €10,000, with an engaging program of workshops, installations, and participatory projects.
Application Process
- Content: Include a one-page exhibition proposal, details of potential artists, visuals of potential artworks, project timeline, and your bio and CV highlighting past curatorial projects.
- Deadline: Submit by email to atena@affordableartfair.com before 10 December 2023.
- Selection: Based on curatorial experience and the originality and feasibility of the proposal.
Curator Responsibilities
- Concept Development: Devise the exhibition concept.
- Artist Selection: Propose suitable emerging artists based in Brussels.
- Exhibition Text: Write an exhibition description and short bios for each artist.
- Artwork Transport: Plan the logistics of transporting artworks.
- Availability: Be present from 6 to 11 February 2024 for installation, fair duration, and deinstallation.
Fair Dates and Installation
- Installation: 6 and 7 February 2024.
- Fair Duration: Be present at the stand during opening hours.
- Deinstallation: Begins on 11 February 2024 at 18:00.
