Overview
Gallery Wendi Norris in San Francisco is looking for a proactive, communicative Assistant Director. This role is pivotal in linking artist studios with the gallery team, overseeing artists’ activities, and setting career and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Artist Management
- Manage at least five contemporary gallery artists.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with artists, ensuring effective communication.
- Regular studio visits and tracking activities in the gallery’s database.
- Collaborate in strategic planning for artists’ careers and sales.
- Coordinate with the team for exhibitions, art fairs, and marketing efforts.
- Monitor sales progress and report quarterly.
- Sales and Networking
- Build and maintain connections with collectors, institutions, and influencers.
- Actively engage in local and global art communities.
- Manage the gallery’s front desk.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification.
- Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to sell with a minimum annual target of $500,000.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel for events and work beyond standard hours.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and creative thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in Salesforce, Squarespace, Google Suite, or quick to learn.
- Additional language skills (especially Spanish) are a plus.
