Position Overview
Desert X seeks a motivated art history or arts administration graduate student or upper-level undergraduate. The intern will support the curatorial team in planning the Desert X 2025 international art biennial. This role is ideal for those with interests in contemporary art and curatorial practices.
Responsibilities
The intern will:
- Conduct research on contemporary artists and themes.
- Collaborate in finding and securing new sites for 2025.
- Document and organize artworks, artist profiles, and exhibition materials.
- Plan and coordinate artist site visits.
- Schedule meetings with artists, galleries, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate production schedules, budgets, logistics, permits, and artist agreements.
- Support during artwork installation and deinstallation.
- Coordinate and edit text and media for printed materials.
- Support the team and artists during the opening week.
- Assist in parallel and educational program planning and execution.
- Coordinate travel and accommodation for curators and artists.
- Undertake additional projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Exceptional research and writing skills.
- Strong digital organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Commitment to a minimum of 10 hours per week.
- Based in Coachella Valley or Los Angeles area, with a car and ability to travel to Palm Springs.
