Position Overview
The Academy of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Helsinki seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher/University Researcher. This role focuses on the theme “analogue image in the era of digital imagery.” The fixed-term contract runs from 1 February 2024 to 31 December 2026.
Research and Teaching Responsibilities
The successful candidate will conduct research and teach in the field of analogue imagery. They will explore analogue techniques and ecological image production, aiming to advance experimental practices and teaching methods in film, photography, and cameraless photography. The position involves collaboration across the Time and Space Arts subject area and the wider university.
Research Time and Additional Duties
Approximately 60% of the time is dedicated to personal research, expecting notable outcomes. Other responsibilities include teaching, supervising students, publishing, project planning, funding applications, and participating in communal university activities.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must have:
- A doctoral degree from a recognized university
- University-level teaching and art practice experience in analogue practices
- A proven track record of independent research
- Excellent communication and interaction skills
- The ability to engage with relevant communities and networks
- Commitment to fine art student education at all degree levels
Language Skills
Fluency in English is essential. Finnish, Swedish, and English are the instruction languages at Uniarts Helsinki.
Working Time and Salary
The position offers a salary of €3450-€4050 per month, based on qualifications and experience. The annual workload is 1,612 hours. The role requires residence in Finland for its duration.
