Hauser & Wirth, a leading global gallery for Modern and Contemporary art, seeks a Director of Residencies & Learning. This role will lead the Residency Program and develop learning and event activities for Hauser & Wirth Menorca’s Public Programs. The Director will manage daily operations of the residencies and public programs, including tours, talks, workshops, and film screenings, in collaboration with the local team. This position reports to the Senior Director, Learning.
Responsibilities
General
- Curate and coordinate public and educational events in Menorca, including talks, workshops, and film screenings.
- Develop public programming activities with the team.
- Create an annual plan for learning programs, including budgets and partnerships.
- Assist in program documentation and recordkeeping.
Artist Residencies
- Develop an annual strategy for the Menorca Residency.
- Coordinate the Artist in Residence selection process.
- Produce content for the website and social media.
- Maintain a residency archive.
- Communicate with artists-in-residency, supporting and evaluating their experience.
- Arrange critiques, open studios, and access to resources for residents.
- Develop programs to expand the Residency’s network.
Public Programs
- Advise on partnerships for the Menorca Residency and Learning Program.
- Ensure local relevance and regional consistency of learning initiatives.
- Define and deliver seasonal public programs.
Candidate Requirements
- Master’s in Art History or Curatorial Studies, focus in Contemporary Art.
- 5+ years’ experience in contemporary arts programming.
- Deep knowledge of contemporary art and artists.
- Experience in interdisciplinary artist residencies.
- Editorial and photo editing skills.
- Collaborative team player.
- Independent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish; Catalan preferable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with database systems.
Additional Information
This full-time position requires flexibility, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, based on programming needs.
