Job Title: Assistant Curator
Start Date: 19 March 2024 (2-year Fixed Term)
Salary: £22,500 plus pension
Working Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30-5:30pm)
Closing Date: 8 February 2024 at 5:30pm

Role and Responsibilities
The Assistant Curator will aid in all aspects of exhibition creation, from research and planning to production and public events. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in fundraising, administration, public relations, stakeholder liaison, and marketing/social media.
- Providing support with exhibition organization and administration, including researching artists, coordinating with stakeholders, and assisting in exhibition planning and execution.
- General duties include aiding in artwork installation/de-installation, event delivery, and welcoming visitors during exhibitions.
- Marketing collaboration to enhance Peacock’s online presence.
Training:
SVQ 3 in Museums and Galleries Practice (SCQF Level 7), supported by Museum Galleries Scotland.

Since 1974, Peacock has fostered art production and cultural dialogue in Aberdeen. The organization supports artists at all levels, from children’s workshops to established artist exhibitions. It nurtures Aberdeen’s cultural life and encourages community involvement in defining and expressing cultural values. The worm, launched in 2017, is a space for exhibitions, artist talks, and critical debates.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
Essential:
- Age between 16 to 29 years.
- Relevant degree (art history or visual arts) or equivalent experience.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Excellent communication skills and command of English.
- Responsible, reliable, and a proactive problem-solver.
- Organizational skills and basic computer proficiency.
Desirable:
- Foreign language skills.
- Experience in art handling and publishing.
- Research skills in visual arts.
