The Singapore Art Museum (SAM), established in 1996, stands as Singapore’s pioneering art museum. It showcases contemporary art through a Southeast Asian lens, engaging artists, art enthusiasts, and the curious across various venues, including the historical Tanjong Pagar area. SAM is on a mission to amass a significant public collection of Southeast Asian contemporary art, fostering connections between art, artists, and audiences for generations to come. The museum is dedicated to ethical and sustainable practices in all its operations.
Position Summary
The Biennale Office oversees the project management and coordination of the Singapore Biennale. The Biennale Executive plays a crucial role in supporting these efforts, focusing on corporate and administrative tasks. The role may also extend to curatorial and exhibition operations, with a commitment needed until August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the planning and project management of the Biennale, including scheduling, budgeting, and report generation.
- Execute the marketing plan, managing the Biennale’s digital footprint and creative content production.
- Arrange travel and accommodation for participating artists.
- Assist in vendor selection through quotation and tender evaluations.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and update stakeholders and funders regularly.
- Stay informed on trends and practices affecting exhibition planning, logistics, and museum management.
- Handle additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in contemporary arts and project management, preferably in large-scale events.
- A strong passion for and knowledge of contemporary art.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capability to handle multiple deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- High sense of responsibility and strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, with excellent communication skills.
- Proactiveness and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator skills. Experience with social media, content management, video, and photography is a plus.
