Introduction
Curatorial Intensive South Asia (CISA) is an initiative by Khoj International Artists’ Association and Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan. It targets young curators from South Asia. This fully-funded fellowship focuses on curatorial practices relevant to South Asian visual arts.
Program Details
CISA aims to diversify perspectives on exhibitions and provides a structured yet experimental inquiry into curatorial practices today. Khoj and Goethe-Institut invite early to mid-career curators to apply for the sixth edition of the CISA program, now reimagined as a month-long, in-situ research residency at Khoj Studios in New Delhi, India.
Opportunity Structure
The residency consists of two phases:
- Phase I (15 Sept – 15 Oct): Focuses on research, mentoring, and project development. Curators will work closely with the Khoj team and mentors to develop their curatorial projects. Activities include seminars, museum visits, and studio visits.
- Phase II (March or April, 2025): Curators will execute their projects in Delhi with public programming and activations.
Support and Funding
The program covers travel, living expenses, and a production budget of up to 1 lakh Rupees for project realization. Participants will receive a daily allowance for food and local travel, along with accommodation at Khoj.

Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and Iran are invited to apply. All application documents must be submitted in English.
