Job Overview
The Assistant Curator at the Media Majlis of Northwestern University in Qatar will assist the Curator of Art, Media, and Technology in developing exhibitions, publications, and programs. This role involves curatorial research, collaboration with artists, project management, and public program coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Curatorial Support: Develop and manage exhibitions, publications, and programs. Conduct research, collaborate with artists and partners, and create interpretive materials.
- Administration: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and logistics. Coordinate agreements and forms, maintain calendars and databases, and assist with collections policies.
- Public Programs: Coordinate public events, host visiting artists, and collaborate with the Outreach team. Represent the museum at events and meetings.
- Content Creation: Develop exhibition texts and summaries for marketing and publications. Maintain the three-year exhibition calendar and track resources.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media, museum studies, or a related field.
- Experience working with high school or university students.
- Two years of experience with exhibitions in a museum, gallery, or archive.
- Strong organizational, teamwork, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in English and familiarity with museum terminology.
- Ability to work independently with discretion and confidentiality.
- Willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in museum studies, curatorial studies, digital curation, journalism, communications, or media.
- Over four years of museum or related experience.
- Expertise in object handling, storage, and digitization practices.
- Bilingual in Arabic and English.
- Experience in curatorial research methodology.
Salary and Benefits
The target minimum starting salary for this position is $56,782. Offers will consider experience, education, and equity at Northwestern University.
