Job Overview
The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery seeks a visionary and collaborative Artistic Director. This role is responsible for delivering the gallery’s mission, programming, performance targets, and contributing to strategic planning and organizational management. The Artistic Director works closely with colleagues and external partners to ensure projects align with the gallery’s objectives, distinguishing it within the cultural sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the practical delivery of exhibitions, publications, and public programs.
- Oversee performances and events with significant curatorial input.
- Manage the gallery’s archive and documentation of programs.
- Develop and implement an exhibition program strategy.
- Ensure diversity and inclusion goals are met within the artistic program.
- Build and maintain professional networks locally and internationally.
- Manage finances and curatorial staff.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of senior experience in a visual arts organization.
- Postgraduate degree in art history, visual arts, or a related field.
- Demonstrated excellence in exhibitions and critical writing.
- Ability to create innovative exhibition and public programs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector is desirable.
- Fluency in French is an asset.
