Position Overview The Everson Museum of Art seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented Curatorial & Collections Assistant. This role supports both the curatorial and collections departments.

Collections Duties

  • Manage all aspects of Community Exhibitions.
  • Handle rights and reproductions requests.
  • Work with donors on Deed of Gift paperwork.
  • Catalog new acquisitions.
  • Assist with data entry into the FileMaker database.
  • Help with collection inventories.
  • Aid in exhibition installations.

Curatorial Duties

  • Assist in coordinating exhibition details, including checklists, research, and writing exhibition text.
  • Compile and distribute materials for Collections Committee meetings.
  • Field research requests and gift offer inquiries.
  • Support deaccession research and documentation.
  • Coordinate travel for curatorial staff and visiting artists.

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Experience with collections management data entry.
  • Proficient in art handling and collections care.
  • Commitment to best practices in collections stewardship.
  • Ability to work independently and with various staff.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience with archives management is a plus.

Position Requirements

  • BA in art history or a related field (MA preferred).
  • 1-2 years of experience in a museum or collections setting.
