Para Site is currently seeking a Project Assistant through HKADCs Arts Talents Internship Matching Programme!

The internship introduces the daytoday operation of an independent art space to aspiring art administrators who are interested in curatorial, exhibition production, public programming. Working closely with the Curatorial and Exhibition team, the Project Assistant will primarily support the team and external partners to fundraise for and produce Para Sites on-site and traveling exhibitions, public and patron programmes, special events, and publications. Under the mentorship of the Para Site team, the candidate will gain valuable insights into the inner workings of a leading non profit contemporary art institution, and practical project execution experience from start to finish.

Application Guidelines for Interns

Overview

The Programme offers arts and cultural internship opportunities for graduates from local and overseas tertiary institutes. It provides a platform for graduates to collaborate with professional artists, organizations, and practitioners. Through on-the-job training, graduates can enhance their understanding of arts organizations and production, encouraging them to pursue a career in the arts.

The Programme includes two schemes: the “Internship Scheme for Arts Administrator” and the “Internship Scheme for Artistic and Production Personnel.” Each scheme offers 30 and 55 full-time internship positions, respectively, for 18 months.

Internship Scheme for Arts Administrator This scheme provides opportunities for graduates aspiring to work in arts administration. It allows them to learn about the operation of arts organizations and the industry, encouraging long-term professional development.

Internship Scheme for Artistic and Production Personnel

  • Artistic Personnel: Offers residency opportunities for local young talents in performing arts, including dance, drama, music, and xiqu. It aims to enhance their artistic skills and gain performance and production experience.
  • Production Personnel: Provides internships for graduates interested in stage and production arts, exhibition design, film and media arts production, and publishing. It aims to help them gain work experience for professional development.

Eligibility

Internship Scheme for Arts Administrator

  • Permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region aged 18 or above.
  • Graduates of local or overseas universities within the last 3 school years (2021/22, 2022/23, and 2023/24).

Internship Scheme for Artistic and Production Personnel

  • Permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region aged 18 or above.
  • Associate Degree Graduates or Higher Diploma Holders from local or overseas tertiary institutes within the last 3 school years (2021/22, 2022/23, and 2023/24).

Priority is given to applicants who graduated from local tertiary institutes and have not participated in any internship schemes organized by HKADC or the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Scheme Content

Interns in the Artistic and Production Personnel Scheme will participate in at least three public performances or productions. The internship commencement date will be mutually agreed upon by the intern and the arts organization. Interns may assist in coordinating the inaugural Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo in mid-October 2024 for three weeks.

Interns will receive a monthly salary of no less than HK$17,200, plus the employer’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) of no less than HK$860 and employee compensation insurance during the approved internship period.

Matching Process

Vacancies will be published on the HKADC website starting 3 July 2024. Graduates must indicate their preferences for the internship scheme, job reference numbers, and position titles. HKADC will match graduates with arts organizations based on their preferences. Organizations will conduct the screening and interview process. Graduates may submit applications anytime after the Programme begins.

Once an applicant is deemed suitable after the interview, both parties must sign an Internship Confirmation Letter and return it to HKADC immediately. The internship will commence after HKADC issues an Approval Letter and signs an Agreement with the organization.

Application forms can be downloaded from the HKADC website starting 3 July 2024. Completed forms and supporting documents must be submitted via email to intern@hkadc.org.hk. Scheme vacancies will be updated regularly on the HKADC website.

Applicants should submit one application form and are encouraged to include a curriculum vitae. Indicate preferences for the internship scheme, job reference numbers, and position titles. HKADC will match applicants with organizations for screening and interviews.

HKADC will send an acknowledgment email within five business days of receiving a completed application. Applications that do not meet the guidelines will not be processed.
