Role and Responsibilities
The Collections and Exhibitions Manager at the UNLV Barrick Museum of Art manages the care of the museum’s permanent collections, ephemera, and loaned objects for rotating exhibitions. Responsibilities include accessioning, deaccessioning, temporary loans, planning, implementing, documenting, and preserving exhibitions and related projects. The role involves facilitating access to the collection for scholars and the public, teaching and training staff, interns, volunteers, and students in collections care and preservation. The manager oversees research into the collection, develops policies and procedures in line with contemporary museum standards, and manages all aspects of exhibitions, including loans, insurance, installation, and shipping.

The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art is part of UNLV’s College of Fine Arts. The College is a creative hub within the diverse culture of Las Vegas, launching visionaries who transform the global community through collaboration, scholarship, and innovation. The museum, located on one of the most racially diverse campuses in the U.S., aims to provide access to art for all, particularly BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- 1-3 years of experience in collection/exhibition management within a museum or gallery.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience working with various stakeholders including artists, curators, and researchers.
- Supervisory or management experience.
- Knowledge of handling art and archaeological materials.
- Experience in writing grants.
Salary and Benefits
- Minimum starting salary: $45,450.
