Role Overview
The position of Curator for Ceramics and Glass 1800 – 1900 (Maternity Cover) in the Decorative Art and Sculpture Department involves managing, researching, displaying, and interpreting 19th-century ceramics and glass collections. The British and continental European ceramics and glass collections from this period are of national and international significance. The curator is expected to represent the museum at a high level and actively contribute to the field of 19th-century studies and collecting.
Key Responsibilities
- Care for, research, and interpret 19th-century ceramics and glass collections.
- Represent the museum in the field of 19th-century studies and collecting.
- Participate in the V&A FuturePlan and exhibition projects.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with external organizations and communities.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong knowledge of 19th-century ceramics and glass, with expertise in ceramics, glass, and/or 19th-century design and decorative arts.
- Extensive museum experience, including collections management.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills.
- Experience in research and publication.
- Ability to work across collections and contribute to various museum projects.
