Job Overview

The Getty Research Institute offers a part-time opportunity for a Research Assistant specializing in modern and contemporary art. The role focuses on the research project “Expanding the Study of Performance in Women Artists Archives” at the Getty Research Institute. The successful candidate will perform research, content development, and editorial tasks. Responsibilities include assisting with library and Special Collections research, data compilation, transcription, note-taking, and contributing to conceptual project development. Additionally, the position involves supporting exhibition-related tasks, coordinating projects or events, and preparing public presentations. Strong computer skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide bibliographic assistance, acquisitions research, and editing for upcoming exhibitions and programs.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of programmatic events.
  • Conduct research, compile data, and assist in the preparation of public presentations.
  • Contribute to academic publications and research reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or Ph.D. in art history preferred.
  • 0-2 years of research experience required; 2-3 years preferred.
  • Strong library skills and proficiency in computing and word processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe software suites preferred.
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus.
