Bibliotheca Hertziana, Rome
The Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History is seeking a part-time Editorial Assistant/Associate to support the Lise Meitner Group, led by Dr. Francesca Borgo, which focuses on the theme of Decay, Loss, and Conservation in Art History. The position starts on February 1, 2025, and is a one-year contract with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing academic publication projects, particularly the group’s annual book series.
- Editing, proofreading, and copyediting texts to meet scholarly standards.
- Coordinating with authors, publishers, and rights holders for sourcing reproduction-quality images and handling permissions.
- Assisting with grant applications, reports, proposals, and public-facing content, including website and social media management.
Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of Italian or German is preferred.
- Strong editorial skills and familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style.
- Experience in an academic publishing environment, preferably related to art history.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and image/video formats.
