The Studio Museum in Harlem is seeking an Archives Fellow to join their Collections & Exhibitions Management team. This part-time, 6-month position offers hands-on experience in processing institutional records, cataloging archival materials, and contributing to the museum’s curatorial and educational initiatives, which celebrate Black visual artists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize a multi-format manuscript collection.
- Create standardized metadata and archival descriptions.
- Prepare monthly progress reports and assist with digitization efforts.
- Collaborate on ongoing research projects and support the Archivist with reference requests.
Qualifications:
- Required: Knowledge of contemporary art collections, archival principles, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and strong attention to detail.
- Desirable: MLS or MLIS degree (or relevant experience), familiarity with The Museum System (TMS) and NetX, and expertise in mid-20th century and contemporary African American art.
Compensation:
- $25/hr, up to 20 hours per week.
