The Leonard A. Lauder Research Center for Modern Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is now accepting applications for pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, and senior fellowships for the academic year 2025–26. The center offers scholars a unique opportunity to advance research in the field of modern art, spanning the late 19th century to the 1960s, across media, disciplines, and geographies.
Fellowship Categories:
- Pre-Doctoral Fellowships (2 years): For current PhD students who are working on their dissertation.
- Post-Doctoral Fellowships (1 or 2 years): For scholars who received their PhD within the past seven years and are working on a book project.
- Mid-Career Fellowships (1 year): For established scholars with a strong publication record relevant to their career stage.
Stipends:
- Pre-Doctoral Fellowships: $50,000 annually.
- Post-Doctoral Fellowships: $60,000 annually.
- Mid-Career Fellowships: $70,000 annually.
All fellows also receive health insurance and a research travel allowance.
