Bezirk Schwaben, one of Bavaria’s seven districts, is currently seeking a Curator for Contemporary Visual Arts and Exhibition Management. The position focuses on managing the district’s art collection, curating exhibitions with complementary programs, and overseeing exhibition management within the cultural division. This role will also involve organizing the district’s Art Prize, providing expert opinions on funding applications, and advising political committees on visual arts-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Care and management of the Bezirk Schwaben art collection.
- Development and curation of art exhibitions and their accompanying programs.
- Organization of the district’s Art Prize.
- Writing expert opinions on visual arts funding applications.
- Advising political committees on art matters in the Swabian region.
- Building and maintaining networks within the Bavarian-Swabian art scene.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Art History with a focus on contemporary art, or a related field.
- Proven experience in the visual arts and exhibition management.
- Knowledge of project management and collection management, including digitization and inventorying.
- Familiarity with the art scene in Bavarian-Swabia is an advantage.
