
Project Manager (Exhibitions)

The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) is seeking a full-time Project Manager (Exhibitions) to oversee the design, coordination, and execution of exhibitions across 6,000 square feet of exhibit space, both on-site and in partnering communities. Reporting to the Director of Exhibitions, the role involves close collaboration with various internal teams, external designers, curators, and fabricators. The Project Manager ensures that all exhibitions meet CAC’s high standards for quality, sustainability, and inclusivity, while adhering to timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple exhibition projects simultaneously, coordinating design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance.
- Use project management tools to create timelines and ensure multi-departmental collaboration.
- Liaise with CAC teams to align exhibition plans with marketing efforts and communicate updates to staff.
- Contribute to exhibition design and content creation, including interpretive labels and visitor engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with external vendors for graphics, digital interactives, and spatial designs.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging trends in exhibition design and management.
- Ensure exhibitions adhere to CAC’s branding, accessibility, and sustainability standards.
- Manage off-site exhibition projects in partnership with community stakeholders.
- Work with finance and development teams to reconcile revenue and ensure project alignment with budgets.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, architecture, interior design, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in exhibit project management or design.
- Proficiency in modeling and graphic software (CAD, Revit, Adobe CS) and knowledge of ADA requirements and sustainability practices.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills, including experience with Gantt charts and milestone reports.
- Enthusiasm for architecture, engineering, urban planning, and design.
