About The Luminary: The Luminary is a nonprofit contemporary art space in St. Louis, MO, known for its innovative exhibitions, artist residencies, and public programs. They are currently seeking a Deputy Director to join their leadership team and help shape the future of the organization’s programs and operations.

Position Summary: The Deputy Director will work closely with the Executive Director, playing a key role in managing grants, overseeing financial systems, and supporting audience engagement and program development. This position is full-time and ideal for someone passionate about contemporary art, public engagement, and nonprofit management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grants Management: Lead the development, submission, and reporting of grant proposals, while building relationships with funders.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, financial reporting, and audits to meet fiscal goals.
  • Program and Public Engagement Support: Strengthen engagement strategies and ensure accessibility across exhibitions, residencies, and public programs.
  • Team Coordination: Collaborate with different departments and mentor staff and interns.

What They’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit management, focusing on grant writing, financial management, and program development.
  • Experience in contemporary art or the cultural sector.
  • Strong project management and communication skills, with a commitment to improving accessibility in the arts.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $60,000 annually
