2025 Asymmetry Curatorial Fellowship – SculptureCenter – New York, NY, USA
Fellowship Duration: August 4, 2025 – April 2, 2027
Application Deadline: December 1, 2024
Fellowship Overview
The 2025 Asymmetry Curatorial Fellowship is a 20-month opportunity for an early-career curator to work within SculptureCenter’s curatorial department. This fellowship allows the fellow to gain experience in exhibition planning, research, organization, and installation. The selected curator will actively contribute to ongoing research, public programming, publications, and departmental projects, supporting SculptureCenter’s mission to highlight underrecognized and emerging artists.
This fellowship, the first international placement by Asymmetry outside the UK and Europe, is designed to support curators with knowledge of Chinese and Sinophone cultural ecosystems and contemporary art. Fellows will engage deeply with SculptureCenter’s In Practice open call program and will liaise with artists, provide production support, and participate in editorial and public programming efforts.
Fellowship Structure and Benefits
The fellowship includes mentorship and pastoral care from SculptureCenter’s senior staff, allowing the Fellow to develop skills and pursue individual curatorial ambitions. Reporting to SculptureCenter’s Curator, the Fellow will have opportunities to:
- Collaborate on research, exhibition development, and public programming.
- Work on publication and editorial tasks.
- Participate in project-based research and production, providing practical curatorial experience.
- Introduce new artists to the curatorial department, expanding its network and vision.
