Position Overview
Queen’s University seeks an accomplished scholar for the Bader Chair in Northern Baroque Art History, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (Tenured). This position is ideal for a distinguished or emerging scholar with a significant record in Northern Baroque art history and a commitment to innovation in research and teaching. Candidates with expertise in areas such as colonial, intercultural, or transnational contexts, interdisciplinary approaches, diverse media, and curatorial work are encouraged to apply.
The Bader Chair provides opportunities for research and teaching with the Bader Collection of European Art at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, which includes significant Baroque works, including four Rembrandt paintings. The successful candidate will teach and mentor students, supervise MA and PhD research, and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration. The role includes a renewable research stipend and requires securing major external research grants.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Art History or equivalent
- International stature as a scholar, either as a leader or a promising emerging researcher
- Expertise in Northern Baroque art history with a preference for scholars engaged in innovative methodologies, historical approaches, or interdisciplinary fields
- Teaching excellence and commitment to advancing research and teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels
- Collaborative ability within a student-centered environment
