Role Summary
The British Museum seeks a Project Curator to support the development and delivery of a new temporary exhibition on Hawaiʻi, including associated programming and outputs like publications and digital resources. This role involves working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the success of the exhibition through research, project coordination, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Curator and Project Manager in coordinating the Hawaiʻi Exhibition project.
- Collaborate with departments such as Conservation, Collection Care, Learning, and Marketing, as well as external stakeholders and community contributors.
- Manage a digital database of objects and images, ensuring accurate updates and tracking object movements between departments.
- Facilitate communication with lenders and loans officers to gather necessary details on loan objects.
- Conduct background research, community engagement, and image acquisition for the exhibition and publication.
- Oversee new photography coordination and documentation management for the project.
About You
- A degree in art history, anthropology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and managing digital imagery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience in museum or gallery settings, particularly in exhibitions or research.
- A collaborative team player with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
