About Platform BK
Platform BK is an association of artists, curators, designers, writers, and producers advocating for the role of art in society and better cultural policies. The organization acts as a think tank and catalyst for developments in the arts field, emphasizing solidarity and inclusivity. With over a decade of activity, Platform BK focuses on topics like fair practice, studio policy, alumni precarity, and the influence of patronage.
Role and Responsibilities
The (Co-)Director(s) will lead Platform BK, shaping its mission and activities, including:
- Setting agendas and responding to current events within the arts.
- Conducting research and raising awareness through debates, publications, or actions.
- Planning and implementing projects, managing volunteers/interns, and ensuring participation in key meetings (e.g., BKNL).
- Maintaining and expanding the network, fostering partnerships, and representing Platform BK at events.
- Promoting Platform BK’s vision via the website, newsletter, and social media.
- Handling financial and membership administration.
Key Activities:
- Regular collaboration with the board (monthly and quarterly meetings).
- Organizing annual brainstorming sessions for research and idea development.
- Working on-site in Amsterdam, with activities across the Netherlands.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Platform BK seeks one individual or a duo with the following qualities:
- Values-Driven: Activist and idealistic, with diplomatic skills.
- Experienced in Visual Arts: Established network and knowledge of the sector.
- Skilled Communicator: Comfortable presenting to stakeholders and writing texts.
- Organized: Proficient in project management and budgeting.
- Languages: High-level command of Dutch and English (spoken and written).
- Independent Position: Preference for artists, designers, or curators with relevant experience.
- Digital Skills: Experience with websites, newsletters, and social media.
