Overview:
Forge Project, a Native-led nonprofit in Upstate New York, is accepting applications for its 2025 Fellowship. This program supports six Indigenous artists, scholars, organizers, and cultural workers with diverse practices and backgrounds. The Fellowship fosters projects that honor Indigenous histories while building Native futures.
Key Features:
- Eligibility: Open to enrolled tribal members, descendants of state or federally recognized American Indian tribes, Alaska Native corporations, Native Hawaiian ancestry, and Canadian First Nations, Métis, or Inuit individuals. Two positions are reserved for members or descendants of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians.
- Award: $25,000 per Fellow, along with access to Forge Project facilities, collections, and libraries.
- Residency: Up to three weeks in spaces designed by Ai Weiwei and HHF Architects.
- Programming: Fellows collaborate with Forge Project staff to develop public programs, including on-site presentations and outreach via social media.
Selection Process:
Applications are reviewed by juried panels comprising Native cultural practitioners, artists, writers, and scholars, including past Fellows. Separate panels review general applications and those specific to the Stockbridge-Munsee Fellowship.
