Eligible Applicants: Emerging artists and cultural practitioners from eligible countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
About the Award
The Seed Award supports 100 emerging artists and cultural practitioners annually, offering a trust-based grant to help amplify their work and foster cultural innovation. This initiative is tailored to those in the early stages of their careers (1-5 years post-study) and working in contexts where cultural expression is under pressure.
The grant provides recipients the flexibility to determine how best to develop their artistic or cultural practice, whether by acquiring materials, exploring new ideas, or dedicating time to creative growth without financial constraints.
Eligibility
Applicants Must:
- Be in the first 1-5 years of their professional career (excluding study years).
- Show a strong, innovative, and socially/politically engaged artistic or cultural practice.
- Have received little to no institutional support for their work.
- Be from, living, and working in eligible regions: Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
The Award Supports:
- Materials and tools for artistic practice.
- Time and resources for research, experimentation, and production.
- Connections and collaborations to further artistic development.
Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Innovation and Creativity: Artistic originality and potential.
- Social/Political Engagement: Relevance to local contexts and issues.
- Inclusivity: Engagement with diverse perspectives and communities.
