Position Summary
The University of Oslo invites applications for the role of Associate Professor in Scandinavian Art and Visual Culture from 1700 to the present. The appointee will engage in research, teaching, and curriculum development, emphasizing transcultural, decolonial, or digital methodologies. Responsibilities include teaching BA and MA courses, supervising research students, and contributing to innovative theoretical and methodological research.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver BA and MA-level courses and supervise theses.
- Contribute to introductory art history and visual studies courses.
- Develop and lead research initiatives and projects.
- Engage with department administration and examination activities.
Qualifications
- Mandatory:
- PhD in Art History or Visual Studies specializing in Scandinavian art and visual culture (1700–present).
- Teaching experience at various levels, including supervisory roles.
- Documented pedagogical skills or a teaching course certificate.
- Proficiency in English and commitment to achieve Scandinavian language proficiency within two years.
- Demonstrated research and academic publication track record.
- Desirable:
- Experience with international research projects and peer-reviewed publications.
- Leadership and networking abilities in academic and cultural settings.
- Strong capabilities in public outreach and interdisciplinary collaboration.
