Program Overview
The Medici Residency invites artists, authors, and researchers from diverse disciplines to carry out specific creative or research projects at the Villa Medici. Open throughout the year, this residency offers an unparalleled opportunity to work in an inspiring and historic environment. These residencies are distinct from the annual residents’ competition and focus on individual or group projects.
Eligibility Requirements
- Open to all creative disciplines, including arts, crafts, art history, art theory, and monument restoration.
- Applicants must be French-speaking and aged 18 or older by the application deadline.
- Group applications are accepted.
- Candidates must commit to the residency dates set by the Academy Director.
Residency Benefits
- Monthly grant of €1,500 (gross), prorated for the residency period.

Selection Process
A committee chaired by the Academy’s Director evaluates applications, deciding on both the candidates and the duration of their residencies. Selected candidates will be notified via email within three months of the application deadline.
