The Whitney Museum of American Art is seeking a Curatorial Research Associate to support a groundbreaking retrospective exhibition on Roy Lichtenstein. Reporting to the Nancy and Fred Poses Curator, this temporary role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with curatorial and publications staff to realize both the exhibition and accompanying publication. The position involves conducting archival research, managing checklists, compiling bibliographic backmatter, and coordinating image use permissions. The successful candidate will also play a key role in planning and convening catalogue essayists for the publication.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scholarly archival research.
- Correspond with external contacts and collaborate with the Exhibitions and Publications departments.
- Travel domestically for on-site research.
- Coordinate project timelines and milestones.
- Manage databases, checklists, and related files.
Qualifications
- Education: M.A. in art history (PhD preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in museums, galleries, or related fields.
- Expertise in Pop Art, particularly Roy Lichtenstein.
- Proficiency in TMS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Excel.
- Strong research, organizational, and communication skills.
