Job Type: Part-time, Temporary (2 years, 3 days per week)
Compensation: $32.00 – $33.00 per hour
The Metropolitan Museum of Art seeks a part-time Research Assistant to support the American Wing’s curatorial initiatives. This two-year position will focus on 18th- and 19th-century American painting and drawing, with responsibilities including documentation, cataloguing, and administrative support for gallery installations and collections development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and documentation on diverse works, enhancing bibliographic material.
- Assist with collections research and build object files.
- Maintain and update collections documentation and records.
- Provide additional support as assigned.
Requirements
- M.A. in History of Art or American Studies (ABD preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of late 19th-century American painting and drawing.
- Previous experience in curatorial departments within museums.
- Familiarity with research resources and The Museum System (TMS).
- Strong organizational and independent research skills.
