The Collection Project Coordinator will support the Arts Council Collection’s move from two storage facilities to a new location in Coventry. This role provides an opportunity to work on a large-scale collections move project while gaining experience in collection care, management, and logistics, including packing, handling, and storage. The coordinator will manage various aspects of the move, liaising with internal teams, external contractors, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collections Handling: Ensure the safe packing, handling, transport, and documentation of artworks throughout the relocation process.
- Project Management: Oversee schedules, consignments, and logistics with the transport agent, ensuring timely progress.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain object lists, schedules, and other project documentation.
- Collaboration: Work with conservators, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure proper handling and storage.
- Budget Management: Track costs, report expenditure, and ensure the project stays within budget.
- Health & Safety: Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed, including risk assessments and training for the team.
- General Administrative Support: Provide additional project management support as needed, ensuring that all tasks are documented and completed on time.
Qualifications:
- Experience in collections management, particularly with relocation or exhibitions.
- Proven project management experience, including handling budgets, tracking costs, and managing timelines.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a methodical and accurate approach.
- Familiarity with IT systems such as Google Suite, MS Office, and collection management systems.
- Knowledge of the standards for handling, packing, and storing works of art.
- Carbon literacy or knowledge of sustainable practices in museum and collections work is a plus.
