Kunsthalle Friart, a leading institution for contemporary art in Switzerland, is seeking a new Artistic Director. The position is responsible for the artistic programming and will work closely with the administrative leadership. The Artistic Director will continue the gallery’s commitment to fostering emerging artists, creating a platform for international collaborations, and shaping Friart’s identity as an inclusive space for the community and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibition Programming: Organize 3 to 5 exhibition cycles per year in Friart’s venue.
- Event Planning: Curate a series of events complementing the exhibitions.
- Budget Management: Oversee artistic budgets and manage the production of exhibitions.
- Communication and Outreach: Lead communication efforts, sponsorships, and educational programming related to exhibitions.
- Networking: Build and maintain a cultural and artistic network around the Kunsthalle.
- Positioning Friart: Establish Friart as the leading institution for contemporary art in the region, both nationally and internationally.
- Team Leadership: Co-manage a team of staff members.
- Representation: Represent the institution to local and regional authorities and communities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Friart committee and other art institutions.
- Living Art Centre: Participate in the broader activities of the art centre.
Required Profile:
- Proven professional experience in a similar role within the contemporary art scene.
- Strong knowledge of 20th and 21st-century art discourse and practices.
- Familiarity with the Swiss art scene and its organizational structure.
- Strong cultural and artistic network for the Kunsthalle.
- Open-minded, proactive, and innovative.
- Proficiency in German and/or French, with good knowledge of English.
