Goethe-Fellowship at Documenta Archiv – Documenta Archiv, Kassel, Germany

The Goethe-Fellowship, in cooperation with the Documenta Archiv, supports international emerging scholars, artists, and curators in researching the historical, interdisciplinary, and international connections of the documenta exhibition. The fellowship aims to enrich the Eurocentric and North American art historical canon with new perspectives.
Fellowship Details:
- Duration: 6 months (15 May – 15 November 2025)
- Stipend: €2,000 per month
- Location: Kassel, Germany
- Support: Assistance with visa applications, accommodation, official procedures, and research at the Documenta Archiv.
Eligibility:
- Emerging scholars, artists, and curators based outside Germany or German-speaking countries.
- Excellent knowledge of modern and contemporary art, especially related to the research areas mentioned in the call.
- Experience in archive research, with proven accomplishments in scientific, artistic, or curatorial work.
- Requirement to live in Kassel during the residency.
- Proficiency in German, ideally at level C1.
Required Documents:
- Application via Goethe-Institut portal (starting 15 January 2025).
- Short biography and project summary.
- Detailed abstract of the research project (max. 3600 characters).
- Two-page CV with language proficiency evidence.
- Two letters of recommendation.
