Call for Projects
The MUTEK AI Ecologies Lab invites applications for an interdisciplinary residency aimed at developing sustainable AI tools for the cultural sector. This residency focuses on the environmental impacts of AI and explores ways to create more sustainable AI practices for art and culture.
Who Can Apply:
- Artists, technologists, researchers, coders, and curators.
- Six participant groups will be selected: 4 from Montréal, 2 from other Canadian locations.
- Open to all disciplines and backgrounds. Applications are encouraged from both individuals and groups.
What’s Offered:
- Honorarium: 1,500 CAD per project.
- Travel Support: MUTEK covers one round-trip flight and accommodation for participants traveling to Montréal.
- Mentorship: Access to resources and expertise for prototype development.
- Showcase: Participants will present their work at the MUTEK Festival to local and international audiences.
Key Dates:
- Application Deadline: February 14, 2025
- Notification: March 3, 2025
- Virtual Lab: April 2025 (10 hours)
- In-Person Lab: June 2–6, 2025 (Montréal)
- Presentation at MUTEK: August 20–22, 2025
Application Requirements:
- Project description (max 500 words).
- Short bio (250 words) and relevant portfolio materials.
- Your approach to addressing AI, ecology, and sustainability (200 words).
- Submit in French or English.
