Salary: $190,000 – $224,000 per year
Schedule: 35 hours per week, Full-time, Permanent
The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) seeks a dynamic leader for the Chief of Learning and Public Programs (CLPP) position. The CLPP will provide vision and direction for the museum’s educational and public engagement strategies, ensuring they align with ROM’s mission and goals. This role involves leading a large team responsible for the design, delivery, and evaluation of diverse educational programs and public initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of educational programs, including school curricula, adult learning, workshops, and community outreach.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including artists, scientists, community organizations, and educational institutions, to enhance ROM’s offerings.
- Develop and implement strategies for community engagement, ensuring access to and interaction with the museum’s collections and exhibitions.
- Oversee the evaluation of educational programs to assess their impact and effectiveness.
- Manage program budgets, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities.
- Lead and mentor a team of education professionals, seasonal staff, and volunteers.
- Participate in senior leadership meetings and contribute to institutional priorities.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Education, Museum Studies, or related field.
- Over 10 years of senior leadership experience in educational/public programming within a museum or cultural institution.
- Proven track record in creating and implementing innovative educational initiatives.
- Experience managing budgets over $2.5 million.
- Knowledge of DEI practices, decolonial approaches, and anti-oppression frameworks.
- Experience working with unionized staff.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
