National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) International Residency Program
Location: Taichung, Taiwan
Stipend: Residency allowance (includes research/creation funding and living expenses)
Contract: Residency from September 15 to November 18, 2025 (minimum stay: 30 days, maximum stay: 65 days)
Deadline: March 24, 2025
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) invites international professionals to participate in its International Residency Program. This initiative aims to foster global exchange by providing researchers, curators, art historians, critics, theorists, and museum professionals with access to NTMoFA’s collections and resources.
Eligibility:
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a non-Taiwanese national (not holding Republic of China nationality).
- Work as an artist, curator, art historian, critic, theorist, or museum professional.
- Not be currently enrolled as a student.
- Demonstrate substantial knowledge of Taiwanese art, culture, and NTMoFA collections.
- Have at least five years of professional experience in the field.
- Have not received NTMoFA residency support in the past two years.
- Possess basic communication skills in English or Chinese.
Residency Support:
- Round-trip economy airfare from the resident’s location to Taiwan.
- Public transportation coverage between the airport and the Museum.
- Insurance coverage for the duration of the residency.
- Daily residency allowance covering research and living expenses.
- Dedicated studio space at no cost.
- Access to NTMoFA’s Collection Vault for research.
- Use of the Museum’s Art Library.
Evaluation Criteria (100% total):
- Residency proposal (40%) – Alignment with NTMoFA’s focus areas:
- NTMoFA Collections (ntmofa-collections.ntmofa.gov.tw)
- Taiwanese Art History
- Taiwanese Artists
- Technology Art
- Public engagement plan (25%) – Feasibility and clarity of proposed public presentation or outreach.
- Applicant’s resume and past work (20%) – Demonstrated experience and publications.
- Performance during online interview (15%) – Articulation of project goals and research plan.

Selection Timeline:
