City of Melbourne is seeking a visionary arts leader to serve as the Head of Programming at Arts House. In this role, you will drive the creative vision, curation, and delivery of a dynamic program that pushes boundaries and engages diverse communities. You will lead a talented team of producers, artists, and specialists to foster experimentation, champion interdisciplinary art, and create opportunities for new and emerging voices. Your leadership will ensure that Arts House remains a vibrant hub for contemporary performance, aligned with the City of Melbourne’s Creative Programming Framework and Creative Strategy, and will embed inclusivity in every aspect of its programming.
Role Purpose
- Shape bold, innovative, and inclusive artistic experiences across live performances, exhibitions, and events.
- Cultivate deep connections with artists, audiences, and communities while amplifying underrepresented voices.
- Ensure the program reflects the values of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan and Equity-Builder anti-racism plan.
- Oversee the creative vision, curation, and execution of the program.
What You Will Bring to City of Melbourne
- Extensive experience in creative practice, particularly in programming, producing, and/or curation.
- Deep local, national, and global arts knowledge, networks, and perspective.
- A track record in designing creative programs and support mechanisms that drive engagement and support independent artists.
- Outstanding leadership skills with experience in developing and motivating diverse teams.
- Strong ability to work with varied stakeholders including artists, art organisations, community groups, and funding bodies.
- Proven skills in developing, managing, and evaluating business plans and budgets, and navigating a politically and risk-conscious environment.
