Center for American Art Summer Fellow – Philadelphia, PA

How You Will Contribute
- Assist Curators in the Department of American Art, supporting two distinct summer fellowships:
- Fellowship 1: Focus on American painting and sculpture (including Indigenous arts) from the mid-nineteenth century to circa 1960, to aid in the reinstallation of the American galleries opening early in 2026.
- Fellowship 2: Focus on American art from 1876–1926, assisting with a special loan exhibition on the Arts and Crafts Movement in Philadelphia opening later in spring 2026.
Your Background and Experience
- Graduate students in art history or related fields with a strong interest in American art are encouraged to apply.
Position and Compensation Details
- Stipend: $5,500
- Hours: Full-Time, Exempt (35 hours per week)
- Term: 10-week position from May 19, 2025 to August 29, 2025
- Reporting To: Robert L. McNeil, Jr., Senior Curator of American Art and Director, Center for American Art
- Physical Requirements: Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, use computers and office equipment, and perform administrative tasks in an office, gallery, or exhibit space
- A background check is required following a conditional job offer.
