Gallery Assistant Opportunity at Tim Melville Gallery
Tim Melville needs an Assistant to manage the Gallery’s office and admin, as well as to be a friendly, welcoming face for our front of house.
The position is multi-faceted and rewarding, and you will build invaluable connections with a broad range of art world professionals.
Alongside daily face-to-face and email interactions with the gallery’s clients, you will work with emerging, mid-career, and senior New Zealand, Māori, Pacific, and Aboriginal artists.
The job also entails stockroom and website management, and the cataloguing and packing of artworks.
Your attributes include:
- A working knowledge of contemporary New Zealand and international art
- A particular interest in Toi Māori
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Excellent organisation and a strong eye for detail
- Comfortable working alone
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Photoshop
Depending on the exhibition programme, flexibility may be required in terms of the hours and days worked; however, the job will entail no less than 37 hours per week.
Previous gallery experience is desirable.
