Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam is inviting applications for the position of Project Leader Exhibitions. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the realization of innovative presentations at the museum’s world-renowned Depot and to help shape the future of the renewed museum.

About the Museum

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen holds a globally significant collection of more than 155,000 artworks, spanning centuries of artistic achievement. While the museum building is undergoing extensive renovations, the collection remains accessible to the public at the Depot, the world’s first publicly accessible art storage facility. The museum is known for its dynamic programming, interdisciplinary collaborations, and commitment to inclusivity.

Position Overview

The Project Leader Exhibitions will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of exhibition projects within the Depot. The role involves initiating new projects in collaboration with curators and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing ongoing exhibitions and supporting the development of future museum exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the realization of exhibition and presentation projects at the Depot.

  • Developing detailed project plans, budgets, and documentation in consultation with curators and stakeholders.

  • Coordinating project teams and monitoring progress against established schedules and budgets.

  • Contributing to the development and innovation of presentation methods and strategies.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a comparable role, preferably within a museum or cultural institution.

  • Higher education degree (HBO/WO level).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Dutch and English.

  • Familiarity with project management and collection management systems (experience with TMS and AFAS is a plus).

Terms of Employment

The museum offers a challenging role in a dynamic environment, with a salary in accordance with the Dutch Museum CAO, scale 10 (€3,641 to €4,731 gross per month, full-time), plus 8% holiday allowance and a 3.4% year-end bonus. Additional benefits include participation in the ABP pension scheme, discounts at the museum café and shop, rooftop yoga at the Depot, and access to the Goodhabitz e-learning platform.
