Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is seeking an Assistant Curator (Design and Art) to support its expanding program at the intersection of contemporary visual art and design. The successful candidate will work closely with senior curators to research and develop exhibitions and programming, particularly with a focus on Southeast Asian and transdisciplinary practices. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to SAM’s vision of presenting cutting-edge work that resonates across regional and global contexts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and contribute to scholarship on contemporary visual art and design in Singapore and the broader Southeast Asian context.
- Coordinate and support curatorial content and programming, including talks, workshops, and exhibitions.
- Liaise with artists, curators, designers, and external partners to facilitate projects.
- Manage project workflows, administration, and budgets effectively.
- Contribute to website and publicity content.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in contemporary art, design, art history, visual cultures or related field (or at least 5 years of professional experience).
- Experience in curatorial research, exhibitions, or collections is highly preferred.
- Strong writing, communication, and project management skills.
- A keen understanding of the Southeast Asian art landscape and a global perspective on visual culture.
- Team-oriented, detail-driven, and adept at managing multiple projects.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are an asset.
