Predoctoral Position – Lise Meitner Group “Coded Objects”

The Lise Meitner Group “Coded Objects”, led by Anna-Maria Meister at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (KHI) – Max Planck Institute, invites applications for a Predoctoral Position (M/F/D).
This opportunity is aimed at advanced doctoral students from architecture, design, the arts, and humanities whose research intersects with the themes and methodologies of the “Coded Objects” group. This is a residential position based in Florence, Italy.
About the Position
- Conduct independent research within the Lise Meitner Group framework
- Actively participate in group activities and contribute to collective outputs
- Organize workshops, visits, and other research-based events
- Maintain and develop a shared research library and methods collection
- Engage in collaborative scholarly work with international peers
Eligibility
- Doctoral candidates in the advanced stage of their dissertation (from any university worldwide)
- Must demonstrate how residency in Florence enhances their research
- Endorsement from doctoral advisor required
- Strong command of English (for academic discourse)
Remuneration & Benefits
- Salary in line with 65% TVöD Bund E 13 + social benefits (or equivalent via German Embassy in Rome)
