Assistant Curator – Kaiāwhina Whakāturanga – Te Uru, Titirangi, Aotearoa (New Zealand)

Te Uru is seeking an emerging curator who is passionate about contemporary art and committed to Aotearoa’s bicultural principles. The role involves supporting the Director and Curator to deliver an ambitious exhibition programme that includes regional, national, and international projects. This includes overseeing exhibitions, public programmes, workshops, and publications.

The position is ideal for someone interested in growing their curatorial skills in a dynamic team setting, with a focus on local contexts and international perspectives.

The successful candidate will possess the following competencies:

  • Commitment to furthering the principles of biculturalism in Aotearoa.
  • Experience working within the Art Sector, working alongside artists.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with people from a wide range of cultures and practices that reflect Aotearoa’s changing demographics and context within the Moana region.
  • Experience and strength in all aspects of arts administration.
  • A strong awareness of developments in contemporary art, locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Communication skills and experience writing text for a variety of contexts.
  • A bachelor’s degree in fine art, curatorial studies or art history. Post graduate level study is preferred.
