Postdoctoral Research Fellow – ICAA Latinx Papers Project, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (Remote, USA)

As part of the ¡Aquí Estamos! initiative, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, is offering a postdoctoral research fellowship within the ICAA Latinx Papers Project. This initiative addresses the historical underrepresentation of Latinx art and artists in U.S. museum and academic spaces. The fellow will work to expand the ICAA’s digital archive by researching and publishing primary source documents related to Latinx art history.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and select primary source materials from repositories across the U.S.
  • Conduct scholarly research, generate annotations, and write accompanying texts
  • Support field researchers and contribute to editorial workflows
  • Participate in team meetings and workshops; share findings via lectures and publications

Candidate Profile

  • PhD in art history or related field (conferred between May 31, 2020 and May 31, 2025); ABDs may be considered
  • Expertise in Latinx art history required; familiarity with Latin American art is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in archival research and digital humanities preferred
  • Advanced Spanish reading knowledge and strong writing skills required
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
