S.M.A.K. is seeking a passionate and experienced curator with a strong network and a deep understanding of contemporary art to join its team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is an opportunity to shape the programme of one of Belgium’s leading contemporary art institutions.

Salary: Starting from €4,130/month (with 2 years’ experience)

Key Responsibilities

Develop and coordinate exhibitions and projects in line with S.M.A.K.’s mission

Conduct research, write curatorial texts, and support communications

Represent the museum nationally and internationally

Collaborate with artists, institutions, collectors, and funders

Contribute to public programmes and educational outreach

Secure project funding through sponsorship and grant writing
Candidate Profile
-
Master’s degree (or equivalent; foreign degrees require recognition)

Minimum 2 years of curatorial experience with international contemporary artists

Strong writing and communication skills (Dutch, English, French)

Team player, results-oriented, and organised
-
Knowledgeable in contemporary art and exhibition-making
