SFMOMA, in collaboration with the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD), seeks an Assistant Curator of the Art of the African Diaspora for a full-time, three-year cross-institutional role. The position is dedicated to curatorial projects related to African diasporic art and culture across both institutions.

Contract: 3 years (at-will term)

Schedule: 35 hours/week (hybrid, minimum 3 days onsite)

Salary: $76,703 – $90,176/year

Responsibilities

Develop and curate exhibitions, commissions, and public programs across both institutions

Expand and interpret collections at SFMOMA and MoAD

Conduct studio visits, artist research, and gallery writing

Represent both museums through public speaking and partnership-building

Collaborate across departments and lead cross-institutional initiatives
Eligibility Criteria

Master’s degree in African Diaspora Studies, Art History, or related fields

At least 3 years of curatorial experience

Expertise in African diasporic art and cultural discourse

Strong writing, research, and public speaking skills

Bilingualism is a plus
