The Power Plant is seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Development to lead its fundraising initiatives during a pivotal period of institutional renewal. The role oversees a dynamic development team and spearheads a multi-year fundraising strategy across individual giving, corporate partnerships, grants, and special events. This is an opportunity to embed a culture of philanthropy and play a key leadership role in Canada’s leading contemporary art institution.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement a multi-channel fundraising strategy

Cultivate major donors and long-term philanthropic partnerships

Lead grant acquisition and stewardship of government and foundation funders

Supervise a collaborative and results-driven development team

Coordinate fundraising messaging and donor communications across departments

Engage externally at donor events and within the philanthropic and arts sectors
Candidate Profile
-
7–10 years of fundraising experience, including 3+ in senior leadership

Strong record in major gifts, sponsorships, and institutional giving

Familiarity with contemporary art and Canada’s funding landscape
-
Skilled in CRM systems, donor engagement, and cross-departmental collaboration
-
Legally eligible to work in Canada
